A restraining order is an official order issued by a court to refrain from specific activity such as contact with a certain person, limiting access to a specific location, domestic abuse, stalking, harassment, neighbor disputes, or removing a minor from the state. They can also be used in business dealings for employment disputes, infringement or copyright infractions. Retraining orders do have time limitations attached so the plaintiff may pursue a permanent injunction whiel the restraining order is in effect.
